We are affiliated with the Barre Family Health Center, a community based medical center operated by the University of Massachusetts Medical School, which provides emergency medical and healthcare consultancy and services to Stetson School on a 24-hour on-call basis.
We provide on-campus nursing care seven (7) days per week from 6:00am-10:00pm as well as after hours nursing and physician support via our nursing on-call system. Under the direction of the Nurse Manager the nursing care team, made up of Registered Nurses and Licensed Practical Nurses, meet with all youth within eight (8) hours of admission. A comprehensive nursing assessment is completed and areas of concern are identified and documented. In the event that youth have not had their required physical (well child visit) or if there is no documentation of a completed physical, an appointment will be set up with their primary care physician. If youth do not have a primary care physician, our nursing team will work with each family to identify the most appropriate provider, or youth may be referred to our contracted provider, The Barre Health Center.

Youth with asthma, develop a “Asthma Action Plan” with their attending physician.
For youth with asthma, a current “Asthma Action Plan” is developed by the attending physician. Asthma awareness training is provided during staff orientation training and annually thereafter. For youth with diabetes, treatment is provided by their primary care physician and Endocrinologist.
